Shirley Ann (Vanata) Watrous

Shirley A. (Vanata) Watrous, 75 of 635 Oakhill Ave., Plymouth, Indiana died on April 25, 2017 at 10:40 a.m. at Miller's Merry Manor, Plymouth, Indiana where she had been in declining health over the past couple of years. She was born on May 26, 1941 in Rochester, Indiana to Loftlee B. Vanata and Violet D. (Milliser) Vanata and had lived all of her life in the Marshall and Fulton County area.

In July 1961 she married Roger Thayer, they later divorced. She then married Emory D. Watrous on September 23, 2012 in Argos, Indiana. Emory preceded her on February 20, 2016.  
Shirley was a homemaker and housewife and had worked at Ristance Corp. in Argos, Indiana. Later she ran Shirley’s Day Care in Rochester.
She was a graduate of Argos High School with the class of 1959, and a past member of the Walnut Ruralettes Home Ec. Club.

Shirley is survived by her Sons – Todd A. Thayer and wife Tawnya of Argos, Indiana; Tracy Thayer and wife Marilyn of Argos, Indiana
Daughter – Janelle Thayer and partner Sherri Walker of Indianapolis, Indiana
3 Grandchildren – Michael Thayer and wife Ashley of Argos, Indiana; Tucker Thayer and wife Alyssa of Argos, Indiana; and Brooke Kraemer and husband Cody of Clay City, Indiana
2 Great Grandchildren – Kyndra Thayer and Duncan Thayer
Sister – Joyce Thomas and husband Pat of Etna Green, Indiana
Brother-in-Law – Loren Voreis of Culver, Indiana

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Sister – Bonnie Voreis


Friends may visit with the family on Friday April 28, 2017 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos, Indiana.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home with Rev. Robert E. Rice Jr. of the Walnut Church of the Brethren, Argos, Indiana.
Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, Indiana
