Ruth Mae (Cowen) Gordon

Ruth Mae Gordon, 98 of 635 Oakhill Ave., Plymouth, Indiana; and formerly of the Argos community entered her eternal life on Monday September 15, 2014 at 5:58 p.m. surrounded by her family at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center – Plymouth, Indiana following a short illness.

She was born on April 20, 1916 in Rutland, Indiana to Frank Orange & Hallie (Lowry) Cowen and had lived most of her adult life in the Argos community.
On February 16, 1936 in Culver, Indiana she married Walter Lyman Gordon who preceded her on April 10, 1998.

Ruth was homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband who owned and operated the Standard Oil Station in Argos, Indiana.
She was a member of the Argos United Methodist Church, Argos, Indiana; former member of the Eastern Star of Argos, and Indiana Rainbow Girls – Mentoring program for the Argos Chapter.
Ruth graduated from Culver High School with the class of 1934.
She was an avid flower gardener. She had large flower gardens in her two homes in Argos. Ruth also made many of her own clothes in her younger days and was still making alterations to her clothes while living in the nursing home. She made great apple pies and egg noodles for her grand kids.

Daughter-in-Law – Kristen Anne Gordon of Plymouth, Indiana
9 Grandchildren – Laura Kim Snyder and husband Doug; Darci Jo Hampton and husband John; Michelle Kay Chamberlin and husband Matt; Matthew Larry Gordon; Walter Gregg Gordon; Robyn Janan Zeiger and husband Chris; Aaron J. Gordon; Aaron Wayne Payseno and wife Rachel; and Laverne Jeanette Aguillon and husband Ben

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Son – Larry Gene Gordon, Daughter – Brenda Kay Gordon, Sisters – Edith Staley, Irene Hissong, Florence Baker, Marjorie Andersen, Betty Castleman, and Brother – Eldon Cowen.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday September 19, 2014 from 9 am – 11 am at the Argos United Methodist Church, 570 N. Michigan St., Argos, Indiana.
Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. September 19, 2014 at the Argos United Methodist Church with Rev. Dewey L. Miller Jr. of the Argos United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at the Maxinkuckee I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Poplar Grove, Culver, Indiana
