Nyla Snyder Obituary
Nyla Jane (Irwin) Snyder, 79 of Kenilworth Rd., Argos, Indiana died on November 21, 2016 at 12:30 a.m. at her residence where she had been in declining health.
She was born on May 1, 1937 in Argos, Indiana to Francis A. Irwin and Mabel L. (Garner) Irwin, and had lived in the Argos Community all of her life.
On June 3, 1956 at the Santa Anna United Methodist Church, Argos, Indiana she married Marvin L. Snyder and together they have shared the past 60 years.
She worked at Argos Family Dentistry for Dr. Eugene Ward for 35 years. Nyla retired in 2011 due to health problems.
Nyla and Marvin owned the Dragon Den – Pizza Parlor from 1976 - 1979
Nyla attended Green Township Elementary and Argos High School, graduating with the class of 1955, where she was the class Secretary and a cheerleader for the Basketball team.
She was a member of the Santa Anna Methodist Church, Argos, Indiana and also a member of the United Methodist Women.
Nyla was a member of the Junior Civic League Federation of Women serving as an officer on the local, county, and state levels.
She was involved in helping to organize the Argos Alumni in 1962. She held the office of Secretary in 1963 and President in 1967. She was on the Awards Committee for many years. In 2006 she received the Hall of Fame Award for service to the Community, School, and church. Nyla’s greatest pleasure was watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren playing sports. She also enjoyed Needlework and going to Garage Sales buying items to add to her many collections.
Nyla is survived by her Husband – Marvin Snyder, Argos, Indiana
Daughter – Laurinda Taylor and husband Charles of Argos, Indiana
Grandchildren – MarLanna Howell, Argos, Indiana; Travis Howell, Argos, Indiana; Joshua VanVactor, Plymouth, Indiana; LeeAnna Dowd, Plymouth, Indiana; and Christine Bennett, Bourbon, Indiana.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Daughter – Lynda Bennett, Brothers – Gerald Irwin, Melvin Irwin, and Gene Irwin, Grandsons – Dustin Howell, Jonathan VanVactor, Granddaughter – Patricia Bennett.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday November 25, 2016 from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos, Indiana.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday November 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos, Indiana with Rev. Henry Sprunger of the Santa Anna United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, Indiana
