Lynn VanDerWeele Obituary

Lynn VanDerWeele, 83 of 15th Road, Argos, Indiana died on Tuesday March 31, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. at his residence. He was born on February 4, 1932 in Argos, Indiana to Jack & Zelma (Albright) VanDerWeele and had lived all of his life in the Argos community.

On July 6, 1952 in Argos, Indiana he married Virginia Schlosser, together they shared the last 62 years. Lynn had a deep love and devotion to his family.
Lynn was a farmer and had worked at the Argos Elevator. He was a accomplished Finish Craftsman.
Lynn served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Wadleigh as a RD3 (Radarman 3rd Class Petty Officer) from May 14, 1951 to April 29, 1955.
He was a member of the James Lowell Corey American Legion Post #68 in Argos, Indiana and had served in every office and was the Past Commander in 1966.
He was a graduate of Argos High School with the class of 1950. He was a member of the Argos United Methodist Church, Argos, Indiana
Lynn served on the Argos School Board from 1976 to 1980 and was the President in 1978-1979.

He is survived by his Wife Virginia VanDerWeele of Argos, Indiana
Daughters – Teri L. Bair and husband Kent of Argos, Indiana; Tami J. Brock and husband Art of Noblesville, Indiana.
Sons – Jack D. VanDerWeele and wife Lori of Argos, Indiana; Jon G. VanDerWeele and wife Patti of Argos, Indiana.
13 Grandchildren 2 Great Grandchildren
Sister – Ann V. Lemon of Lake Oswego, Oregon
He was preceded in death by his Parents, and Son – Tad J. VanDerWeele

Friends may visit with the family on Monday April 6, 2015 from 12 noon – 2 p.m. at Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos, Indiana.  
Graveside Services will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. at the Maple Grove Cemetery on April 6, 2015 and then from 3 – 5 p.m. Monday April 6, 2015 at the Argos United Methodist Church in the CLC Building there will be a Service of Remembrance with Rev. Dewey L. Miller & Rev. Robert Vale.

Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, Indiana with Military Honors being conducted by the United States Navy burial unit and the Argos American Legion Post #68.
