Dorothy E. (Polk) Thurin, 93 of 635 Oakhill Ave., Plymouth, Indiana; and formerly of the Culver Community died on October 5, 2017 at 9:20 p.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, Indiana where she had been in declining health.
She was born on August 10, 1924 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to John Polk and Rose (Wesolek) Polk.
She had lived in the Culver community since 1961
On June 29, 1946 in Lyons, Illinois she married Theodore Ernest Thurin and together they shared nearly 70 years of marriage. He preceded her on April 3, 2016
Dorothy was a Housewife and Homemaker, she had also worked at the Starke County Hospital as a Cook, and a book keeper at Taitels Clothing Factory, Knox, Indiana
She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church, Culver, Indiana. She was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Culver, Indiana; and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Finney-Shilling VFW Post #6919, Culver, Indiana.
She was a graduate of Morton High School class of 1942, Des Plains, Illinois.
Dorothy is survived by her Daughter – Linda J. Redinger and husband Charles of Argos, Indiana.
Grand Children – Rose Dodson and husband Dean of Walkerton, Indiana; Charles Redinger and wife Kelly of Plymouth, Indiana; Ted Redinger and wife Jenny of Argos, Indiana; and Bill Redinger and wife Alicia of Elkhart, Indiana
11 Great-Grandchildren
She is preceded in death by her Parents, and Great Grand Daughter- Emma Redinger 3 Brothers, and 5 Sisters
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday October 10, 2016 from 10 to 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 605 N. Plymouth St., Culver, Indiana.
Funeral Services will following the visitation and a Christian Burial Mass Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
