Catherine "Cathy" Ann Burkett

Catherine "Cathy" Ann Burkett, 74 of Argos, Indiana passed away July 11, 2026, at 7:10 p.m. at Miller's Merry Manor, Plymouth, Indiana. On November 5, 1951, in Rochester, Indiana she was born to R. Devon Burkett and Mary Priscilla (Powell) Burkett. She grew up in the Argos Community and had returned 4 years ago after spending 36 years in Rushville, Indiana.

Cathy worked as a School Teacher for 5 years and then spent the next 21 years working for Purdue Extension Office in Starke County from 1982 – 1986 and Rush County from 1986 – 2003 when she retired on June 30, 2003. In 2003 she opened her own store, In Stitches Quilt Shop in Rushville, Indiana until she sold it in 2021 to return to Argos.

Cathy graduated from Argos High School in 1970 and attended Ball State University where she earned a BA of Home Economics in 1974 and her Master of Arts in 1976. She was a member of Tri-Kappa and in 2002 she was awarded Most Dedicated Tri-Kappa Award, Walnut Ruralites Home Economic Club, Friendship Quilters Guild of Marshall County. She attended New Song Church, Plymouth and was involved in Rock Steady Boxing Club, Plymouth. After an accident and being severely burned she wrote several articles for Do’s and Don’ts at the gas pump.

Cathy is survived by her Sister-in-Law – Deb Burkett of Argos, Indiana

Nieces – Jennifer Hutchison and husband Aaron of Argos; Katie Burkett of Argos; and Megan Wagoner and husband Gary of Burket, Indiana

Great Nieces and Nephews – Triston, Karter, Rylie, Weylin, Alaina, Karsin, Kolstin, and Addy.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Brother – James Burkett

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday July 16, 2026, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at New Song Church, 1292 Baker St., Plymouth, Indiana. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Rich Schieber of New Song Church. Burial will conclude the service at Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, Indiana
