Burl Nifong Obituary
Burl Leroy Nifong, 80 of Indianapolis, Indiana and formerly of Marshall County, Indiana died on July 8, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Community Hospital North, Indianapolis, Indiana. He had been in declining health for several months.
Burl was born on April 20, 1936 in Plymouth, Indiana to Noble Nifong and Cora Alma (Stone) Nifong. He has lived in Indianapolis since 2007, after living in Marshall County all of his life.
On September 7, 1958 he married Sharon (Ritter) Nifong; she preceded him on May 22, 1979. Burl then married Miriam (Geyer) Nifong on June 18, 1982 and together they have shared the past 34 years with each other.
Burl worked in Seed Sales for Centra-Soya in Noblesville, Indiana; and he was a Branch Manager at the State Exchange Bank in Bremen, Indiana which was later the Lake City Bank when he retired.
He was a member of the Plymouth Church of the Brethren and had attended the Argos United Methodist Church.
Burl was a graduate of Argos High School with the class of 1954 and was the Vice President of his class. He obtained his under grad studies at Purdue University and received a Masters of Agriculture from Penn State University. He played basketball and was active in the choir during High School. Burl was a talented man and was blessed with a voice to sing, he was in the National FFA Choir and performed with his sister’s at local shows.

Step-Daughter – Cheryl Cosgrove and husband Steve of Indianapolis, Indiana
Step-Son – Chris Allen and wife Amy of Fishers, Indiana
5 Step Grandchildren and 1 Step Great Grand Child
Sisters – Gladys Ruth Snyder and husband Eugene of Argos, Indiana; and Betty Alma Nolin and husband Jim of Argos, Indiana
Brother-in-Law – Richard Ritter and wife Ritter of Tennessee, and Robert L. Voreis of Argos, Indiana

He is preceded in death by his Parents, Wife – Sharon Nifong, Sons – Scott Nifong and Jeffery Nifong, Brothers – Paul Nifong, Earl Nifong, and Freddie Nifong, Sisters – Dorothy Nifong, Wilma Stults, Jennie June Voreis
Friends may visit with the family on Friday July 22, 2016 from 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. at Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos, Indiana.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday July 22, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at the Argos Maple Grove Cemetery, Juniper Road, Argos, Indiana with Rev. Robert E. Rice Jr. of the Walnut Church of the Brethren.
