Allen Gene Mechling Sr.

Allen Gene Mechling Sr., 90 of Argos, Indiana passed away May 22, 2025, at 2:28 p.m. in the Stillwater Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, Indiana. On January 9, 1935, in Culver, Indiana he was born to Guy Day Mechling and Arvesta Viola (Burkett) Mechling. 

On April 14, 1956, in Tyner, Indiana he married Helen Marie Olds and together they shared 64 years until her passing on November 30, 2020. Allen and Helen lived in Argos after their wedding till 1990, then he and Helen moved to Michigan City for 27 years before returning to Argos in 2017.

He worked at Ritz-Craft in Argos, Indiana for 15 years. Together he and Helen owned Mechling Catering for over 20 years.

Allen was a member of the Congregational Christian Church of Argos, Indiana and Countryside Christian Church Michigan City, Indiana. Allen has attended New Song Church in Plymouth since 2017. He was a graduate of Argos High School with the class of 1953

Allen is survived by his Children - Allen Mechling II and wife Deb of Indianapolis, Indiana; Joyce E. Reese of Argos, Indiana; Nathan J. Mechling and wife Candie of Argos, Indiana; Thomas K. Mechling and wife Kesha of Princeton, Indiana; Ruth A. Spencer and husband Cecil of Plymouth, Indiana

16 Grandchildren    25 Great Grandchildren  

He is preceded in death by his Parents; 2 Great Grandchildren – Katie and Mari Jane; Brothers – William Mechling, John Mechling, Joe Mechling, Gerald Mechling; Sister – Grace Petz

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday May 28, 2025, from 9 – 11 a.m. at New Song Church, 1292 Baker St., Plymouth, Indiana. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Justin Chambers. Burial will take place at Jordan Cemetery, Argos, Indiana
